Owner Operator

I’m Daniel Kilmartin, owner-operator of Legacy Window Washing.

I got my start in the window and gutter cleaning business in 2021, and I’ve really enjoyed being able to help people do work they can’t (or just don’t want to!). I especially love helping people protect their homes from water damage via cleaning and fixing gutters.

I love creative problem-solving and refining systems and ideas, so running this little company has been an exciting challenge and opportunity to flex my brain muscles. Since starting the business, I’ve been honing my skills and learning ways to improve the process and pricing to make sure Legacy Window Washing delivers the cleanest windows and gutters for the best price possible.

I used to work as a window installer, I've done a bit of roofing and siding, and many other odd jobs! I think my experiences are a great complement to my role with Legacy Window Washing, as installation work is expanding my skill set and enables me to dive deeper into the land of windows and home maintenance in general.

Why "Legacy" Window Washing?

When I started this business in 2021, it was just me and my Subaru Legacy. It was an awesome car (albeit with a very loud exhaust) and my reliable steed, bringing me, my ladders and equipment from house to house.

Unfortunately, during the off season, the Winnipeg winter brought a grizzly end to the Legacy. I had to say goodbye to my trusty ride, but with its passing, I was given a parting gift - inspiration for a business name (which I had been struggling to decide on for quite some time)!

I now drive a pickup truck, which can hold more equipment and carry larger ladders, enabling me to reach your highest windows and work a little faster. As a potential customer, you may also be happy to know that the truck is much quieter than the Legacy, though, I have to say, I don’t feel as cool driving it around (but that’s the only real downside)!

Family

I love my family and spending time with them. I am the youngest of 4 kids and unfortunately, my siblings are scattered across Canada, while my parents are overseas. This means our family gathers less than we'd like, but when we get together for big events like weddings, it's an amazing time!

Faith

I love Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came down to Earth in human form over 2000 years ago and was crucified on a cross. Faith in Jesus' death and resurrection allows you and I to be saved from our sins. If you look around the world, it is not hard to tell that something is wrong and its far from perfect. This is not a problem that can be fixed by mere human efforts like education, politics or programs. People have a massive role in restoring a broken world, but without God we will fail.

Fun

I love using my hands and mind to build and create fun, new things. I especially enjoy woodworking projects, like the custom cajón pictured above! If I'm not working, I am playing basketball! This is by far my favourite sport, I played in University for 2 years, and now am just a really competetive weekend warrior! If I am not working or playing sports, I am likely to be hanging out with my amazing Winnipeg friends.
